Harborline Hotel

We left without staying and asked for a refund. I was there with my wife and two young kids, and the room was disgusting. There was blood in the bathroom, bedroom, on the nightstand, and on the mirror. It also smelled strongly of dirtiness. The trouble started with the elevator, which dropped about three inches before going up. At the room, we used the PIN to get in and quickly looked around. The front desk employee offered another room, but I declined. They said our room hadn't been turned over, but the bed was made and the towels, with soap, were rolled up neatly. It looked ready to rent, just filthy. I wish I could upload pictures because they explain it all. While I was asking for a refund, a woman came in and asked the employee if everything was all right. He said he was taking care of it. She asked if I was leaving and whether we'd stayed; when I said we hadn't, she seemed like she might be under the influence of alcohol or something. The employee said they'd contact the manager, but she rudely said to contact her instead and took off. This place was a disaster from the start. I'm not giving it a good review.

The room was lovely and well looked after, and the staff made our stay even better. The town itself is a delight. We mostly saw the same front desk staff member during the day, and she was an absolute delight. The night staff were kind and friendly too. We loved staying here and can't wait to return.

Breakfast was a joke: just three small round tables with eight chairs squeezed around them for the whole hotel, and the supposed hot food was cold. For what we paid, we were very disappointed. Spend your money elsewhere. I only gave one star because there wasn't a lower score. The so-called ocean view looked onto the back parking lot and dumpster. On our second night, a bright floodlight right outside the balcony door shone in, and the curtains only covered part of it. The pillows were very uncomfortable, and there was almost no room in the bathroom for toiletries. At first things looked tidy, but there was hair and tissue in the shower area and on the carpet by the bed. Mold was on the base molding in and around the shower. When I opened the supposedly clean towel, one side was covered in black marks, as if it had been used to clean the floor. I used it to block the two-inch gap under the door and keep the light out.

We paid $130 a night for three people, for reference, but the room was far smaller than the booking site said. It was listed as 52m2, though it seemed 30-40m2 at most. There was no soundproofing: we could hear a neighbor snoring, an alarm at 2 am, and footsteps upstairs at 4 am. The shower had very weak water pressure, and the warm water took so long to arrive that you could spend an hour washing with shampoo still in your hair. The floor and sheets weren't properly clean. There was no water cooker in the room, and some technical problems in the breakfast area could have made the stay more enjoyable.
