Rockland Harbor Hotel

The buffet breakfast was good and convenient, with fruit, juices, coffee, tea, cereals, bagels, English muffins, muffins, yogurt, a couple of egg dishes, and breakfast meat. The Rockland Harbor Hotel is well placed on the mid-coast, within walking distance of town restaurants, the Maine Lighthouse Museum, art museums, the ferry, and the harbor trail. We had a balcony harbor king room of a good size, but a tree and two telephone poles and lines across the street partly blocked the view. The sofa was very uncomfortable, and the bathroom was tiny.

The location is fantastic for walking out to dinner and drinks, and breakfast was a great way to start the day. The service was great too. Our room was amazingly clean and the bed super cozy. I don't have one negative thing to say, and I'm looking forward to coming back.

The location is great, but that's the only positive I can think of. The customer service was awful, the staff rude, the rooms smelled bad, and the lack of soundproofing made it nearly impossible to relax. I wouldn't stay here again even if you paid me. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. When I arrived, my room smelled like rotting food. The woman at the desk seemed completely unconcerned when I reported it, and the second room smelled just as bad. I tried to put up with it, then asked to move again. The third room didn't have that odor, but smelled as if it had been doused in cheap air freshener to cover something up. I considered finding another hotel, but it was late and the room at least appeared clean. Apart from the younger woman on the night shift, the staff seemed to have little to no customer service skills. If you're hoping to sleep past 6 am, don't count on it unless you're on the top floor. You can hear every step from the room above. The floors seem to have virtually no soundproofing, and I heard the people upstairs constantly throughout my stay.

Rockland Harbor Hotel is right in the middle of this beautiful coastal town, so it's easy to walk to restaurants, shops, museums, and galleries. The beautiful harbor and Ferry Terminal are across the street. Concord Bus Company drops off and picks up here too, which made the bus from Boston really convenient. The hotel is well maintained, clean, and safe. Sienna at the Front Desk welcomed me as soon as I arrived, and every hotel should have someone like her. A hot breakfast is available year round, which was a nice surprise. I had a great time and will be back. A++++ I highly recommend the "Rockland Cafe", an affordable local favorite within walking distance. Try the homemade "Fish Cake" made with fresh Haddock, and their apple and blueberry pies, Whoopie Pies, and other homemade desserts.
