Hampton Inn Rocky Mount

The bed and all four pillows were absolutely divine. I’ve never slept so well in a hotel, and I’d stay here again expecting another great night. It’s a smallish room, but had everything I needed, including a wet bar with a sink, microwave, and refrigerator. Check-in was quick, and I was in the room fast. The hotel is close to the highway, so large vehicles made the whole building feel like it was shaking. The hallways were loud, and sometimes I could hear showers, flushing toilets, and heaters switching on and off in neighboring rooms. I’d brought earphones, though, and once I had them in, I barely noticed those noises.

I don’t know what the ratings are based on, but this place is a dump. We’d chosen room 441 with two beds, but got the wrong room, and it smelled so strongly of marijuana that we got a contact high. Room 435, the one we were moved to, was filthy. The evening staff could not have cared less. At 6:30 p.m. on 12/05/2025, the front desk worker acted like we shouldn’t be breathing her air. When I asked for the new room number as she handed over the key card, she said it was on the envelope and walked away. Her response to the marijuana smell was, “well that’s a smoking room.” She never apologized for the room being late or for giving us the wrong one. There were bed bug casings, stink bugs, and a hair in the sheets when we pulled them back. Under the pullout sofa was just gross. With the renovations now underway to improve the guest experience, do us all a favor and improve the front desk help too. This was my second horrible experience with Hiltons in Rocky Mount NC in recent weeks. I’m done with them!

The room on the second floor was okay and didn’t smell moldy, though it was dated. Hopefully the rooms are the first thing they work on. We checked in around 5:00 p.m. on 1/2/26 and left on 1/4/26. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and helpful every time I dealt with them. Breakfast was okay. We were in a rush to leave for a tournament, so we didn’t have time to finish eating it.

We had our dog with us on the way to Florida, and the room was comfortable. Tamika and India, who were working the evening and morning shifts, were the real stars. It was such a pleasure meeting and talking with them!
