Homewood Suites by Hilton Rocky Mount

Our business group arrived early for a quick overnight, but the front desk team managed to get everyone checked in. The facilities and our comfortable room were super clean, and the employees were friendly. Breakfast was complimentary, and the pulled chicken was a nice surprise. We walked to the nearby Outback Steakhouse for dinner.

The breakfast staff were so friendly and helpful, they deserve a raise and a shout out. I enjoyed the breakfast, especially being able to make a burrito or burrito bowl, plus overnight chia oats with different toppings. We booked a spacious two-queen suite for $110 while driving up to leave our Australian Shepard with friends. It's easy to find right off the interstate, and the property is well kept. There is a huge grassy spot for walking the dog, with a poop station, and a well-behaved dog could run off leash to burn energy. The ceiling fan helped keep air moving in the suite. My one gripe was the TV's eco mode, which made the picture dim and blue tinted. Guests hate it, so get rid of it. I'd happily stay again, especially if I can get that price.

The breakfast staff were great, and otherwise it was a good stay. The thermostat is what held me back from giving five stars across the board. On heat, it kept baking the room regardless of the setting; cooling behaved similarly. Auto mode made heat and cool alternate constantly once the set temperature was reached. You also can't see the actual room temperature, only the target, and the room felt at least 4 degrees warmer than that. I also wish the dining area could be used for quick team meetings or bonding during sports weekends. Hotels in the area make a lot of money then, and the space should be available if there's a POC to handle any concerns or damage.

After a long day on the road, the comfortable bed and very clean room were welcome. The front desk staff were warm and friendly, and breakfast and coffee in the morning were great. The hotel is right off 95, with easy access on and off, on the east side. I stayed overnight while heading from Florida to visit family up north, and would highly recommend it.
