Quality Inn Rocky Mount near Event Center

I slept comfortably, and the room was nice and clean. It's close to restaurants, the mall, and other shopping. My only issue came when I went to put my food in the refrigerator after checking in: there was half a bottle of beer inside. Other than that, everything was good.

I stayed between Econo Lodge and Quality Inn in Rocky Mount, NC for nearly two months. The way hotel management treated me was some of the most unprofessional I've experienced, and I left feeling unsafe, disrespected, and taken advantage of. During a transportation emergency in nearly 100° weather, my daughter, my service animal, and I were threatened with police for sitting outside. Staff aggressively approached my child while I was only a few feet away, retrieving something I had accidentally thrown away. It was humiliating and unnecessary. At Quality Inn, a “fire inspector” entered my room with the same maintenance employee I had repeatedly seen working at multiple properties between Rocky Mount and Wilson. Soon after they came in, rust-colored water flooded the room and ran under the TV and refrigerator. Staff showed little urgency. It felt as if these hotels were being patched up just enough to keep renting rooms. After I reported the problems, I was put on a DNR list. An employee later removed it so I could check in, but the next day I got an email banning me from both properties. I was sick with the stomach flu in my room and hadn't interacted with anyone. The message arrived late in the afternoon, so I left right away and wasted the Choice points I'd already used for my stay. They also charge unexpected $100 holds on many third-party bookings and even some points bookings, without clearly disclosing this on several travel platforms before booking. Customers shouldn't find out about major extra charges only at check-in. Based on what I experienced, the properties seem closely connected or family operated, so travelers should be cautious.

After roughly 8 hours on the road with my family, we arrived late and were disappointed. The coupon book from the NC Welcome Center promised newly renovated rooms and hot breakfast, but our room wasn't renovated. There was dark hair under my blonde daughter's pillow and stains on her comforter, and the bathroom lock didn't work. At 12:45pm, people were yelling outside on the first floor. We thought the hotel was closed when we first arrived because the lobby was blocked off for construction and the parking lot was full of construction vehicles. Breakfast was just basic coffee and muffins.

Good value for the money, and the staff at both reception and breakfast were kind and helpful. The hotel was very clean, especially the lobby and public bathroom. Breakfast felt a little limited, though. It would be nice to have the usual Quality Inn biscuits and gravy, plus some hot food like eggs, sausage, or bacon. Thanks to the staff.
