That icy walkway at 6 AM was a serious safety concern, and it could easily lead to a lawsuit. I did speak with a maintenance worker who seemed to care and was decent, but nobody came to inspect the AC/heater after I told the front desk its wall unit sounded like an airplane taking off. I’ve seen that same problem elsewhere, and in that case the room caught fire while we were away for a few hours. The photos and videos show the issues here. I’ve spent nearly a decade traveling around the U.S. and reviewing hotels, staying in well over 500 places. I also have 30 years in maintenance, so I know what should be handled and what can’t be ignored. Management needs to pay much closer attention, because too many staff members don’t seem to be doing their jobs. The cleaning crew was rude and unprofessional, and I don’t think they should be cleaning rooms. The entryway cleaner seems to be watering down the solution too, and it looks awful in the photos. When you’re on the road as much as we are, being made to feel like family can make or break a stay. Instead, I felt like I was bothering people just by being there. That really wears on you when you’re living in a hotel for weeks at a time. There’s potential here and the location is good, but the place needs care, attention, and leadership that actually cares. Maybe choices made by upper management, including penny-pinching, are hurting the quality. If so, shame on you. Safety shouldn’t be optional. Do better. I’d suggest staying somewhere else nearby. You can still visit the shops and walk around to enjoy the amenities. Check out Dukes Lagoon for chairs and so on, and say Steve sent ya!
