Hampton Inn & Suites Rohnert Park - Sonoma County

We arrived around 8 p.m. and were told our assigned floor had a hot water problem. The choices were a 50% discount but no hot water or shower, a room on another floor that hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guest, or no room and a full refund. We took the refund option. They could have had housekeeping clean the vacant rooms, or arranged a room at the nearby DoubleTree, which is also owned by Hilton, perhaps with some points or vouchers to show they valued us. That didn’t happen. The receptionist seemed unable to take action herself, and I don’t blame her. Her managers should have been more proactive. I won’t stay at this hotel again. Hilton and Hampton need to update their customer service routines. Shame on Hampton Inn.

The area felt nice and clean, and there was patrol at night to keep an eye on your car. The price was cheap, with a $20 deposit in case a smoker damages the room, returned the next day if there’s no issue. Lisa greeted me with a smile, was incredibly helpful, and made sure I was looked after before I even checked in. What more could you ask for? Go book your room.

The breakfast, beds, and everything else were great, and the people were perfect. The older gentleman at the counter especially took good care of us and gave my wife an extra cookie. My one gripe was the TV. The channel selection wasn’t good, and the picture kept freezing so badly we couldn’t watch anything. I didn’t come to watch TV, but when I do turn it on, I’d like it to work.

Breakfast was supposed to run until 9, but by 8 they’d run out of potatoes, oatmeal, fruit, and other items. I heard several people ask, yet nothing was replenished. I’m not sure what the point is of advertising a free breakfast that way. We were also surprised to find a parking fee at a hotel you can only reach by car. It would have been good to know when booking.
