The room was great, and we had dinner and drinks at the bar, spending close to $200. We chose the hotel on our AAA travel agent’s advice so we could leave our car there during our Mexico vacation and use the airport shuttle. Our trip to the airport before we left went smoothly after they gave us a wake-up call. Getting back was a different story. We called to ask where to meet the shuttle and followed the instructions we were given. We were told a dark grey and red Marriott shuttle would come, but we waited three hours and it never picked us up. We called the hotel at least 20 times, and staff often put us on hold or hung up. When we did reach someone, they kept saying another shuttle would arrive in 20 minutes. We saw three shuttles at the pickup spot. The first went by, and when we ran to flag down the second, the driver said it was too full. The third gave us the same answer. I had a broken wrist and was relying on the hotel to get us back. It was 18 degrees while we waited. In the end, we paid $50 for a cab. I’m furious about how this was handled. Marriott should compensate us, and I think the hotel needs a night manager so this doesn’t happen to another unsuspecting guest. I’ll never recommend it, and after usually enjoying Marriott stays, I don’t want to stay at another one.

I’m in Detroit for work three or four times a month and have tried several hotels near DTW. This Marriott is my favorite because of the people. Every interaction makes me feel at home, especially the front desk team. Maria, Barbara, and everyone there treat me like family, and Shannon at the restaurant takes great care of me at breakfast. My room is always impeccably clean, thanks to housekeeping, and the woman in the concierge lounge is kind and accommodating too. The staff here deserve recognition for their hospitality. I’ll gladly keep bringing my business here. Thanks for everything! 🙏

The peaceful atmosphere made my three-day stay especially relaxing. The food service was good, and the front desk staff were courteous and helpful. My room was kept spotless by housekeeping. Supervisor Vijay and Barbara from the Housekeeping Department were particularly kind and attentive to detail. Their work made me feel even more comfortable. I’d happily recommend this hotel for a pleasant, worry-free stay.

The restaurant stays open until 11:30 pm, and the food was delicious. The bar was good too, with generous gin and tonic pours, as well as Captain and Diet. We chose this Mariott because we could leave our car there for a very reasonable price while traveling. Since our flight was late, they also gave us a 2 pm late checkout. We know where we’ll stay next time we fly out of Metro.

The rooms are clean, great, and recently updated. Audrey at the front desk is the best thing this property has going for it. She’s a friendly face for loyalty members, and she cares enough to go above and beyond because she knows the hotel should do better. The Marriott loyalty perks are the worst here. The happy hour is embarrassing for a hotel full of business travelers: there’s little food, wine is rarely available, and often nobody is staffing it. There’s no room service, and the morning buffet is worse than breakfast at my kids’ school. The bacon isn’t fresh, eggs are often dried out, there’s no omelet station or waffles, and sometimes they don’t even set the buffet up. The Sheraton Ann Arbor and limited-service brands offer a better breakfast. I keep taking pictures and sending them to Marriott Franchise Relations, hoping they make the property improve or pull their flagship.
