Embassy Suites by Hilton Detroit Metro Airport

The room was quiet, comfortable, and clean, and breakfast was exceptional with omelets made to order. Getting to the airport was easy too, with a shuttle every 15 minutes and no long waits. At happy hour each person gets two drinks. The snacks were a bit skimpy, but the restaurant had a nice selection at very fair prices.

The hotel is beautiful and in a great location, and the staff are very nice. But keep in mind that a DND sign may not stop housekeeping from entering. I was in my room eating breakfast when they opened the door, and I rushed over so quickly I think I startled the housekeeper. I spoke with the front desk, and they passed it on to the housekeeping manager.

We picked this hotel for its location and reviews while celebrating our niece’s birthday, which felt especially important after she’d just lost her father. The location was good, but that was about the only thing we liked. For the money, we expected to be more comfortable. We felt like we were in a hood club. We were nearly searched at the door and monitored everywhere we went. They have a wristband system, which is fine, but an adult who isn’t swimming should be allowed to stay in the pool area with a minor child. It was a horrible experience, and the room was below what I’d expect from such a big-name hotel. It felt like it had only had a rushed cleanup. I wouldn’t encourage anyone to come here to unwind.

The breakfast was one of the better hotel breakfasts I’ve had, and I was especially impressed by the omelette station. The lobby also has a small snack store, plus there’s a fitness center and an indoor pool with a hot tub. The front desk staff were polite and knowledgeable. My room was spacious, clean, and seemed recently renovated. It’s an easy-access hotel near Detroit airport, and I’d stay here again or recommend it to anyone needing a place by the airport.
