DoubleTree by Hilton Los Angeles - Rosemead

At 3 a.m. I was awake in the room because the freeway noise was deafening. I might as well have been trying to sleep beside the freeway. The room I booked on the Hilton app had been given to somebody else, and the room I got was dated. Even the glass of wine from the bar was tiny, and parking came with an unexpected charge. Possibly the worst Hilton I’ve stayed at.

My husband and I hoped to enjoy a weekend for our third wedding anniversary, but it was spoiled. We booked a 1 King Bed Junior Suite Non Smoking, described as sleeping four and having a living area, workspace, separate bathtub and shower, full-size refrigerator, and microwave. Instead, we got a 1 King Bed-nonsmoking room. The photos of what we paid for were extremely different from the room we received. The tub was tiny, and taking a shower became a nightmare because there was no cold water, only hot. The water kept heating up even after we turned it to cold, and we nearly got burned. Our room also hadn’t been cleaned. We paid for something we didn’t get, and we definitely don’t recommend this hotel.

The rooms were a bit dated, but about what I expected for the price during my work stay a month ago. At happy hour one evening, I had two glasses of wine for $16 total after a $5 tip. The bartender ran my card on a mobile POS, then walked to the other end of the bar with it still in hand. After a minute I asked for it back before going to my room. Two days later, I spotted an unexpected $38 charge from the hotel bar. When I went down and said they must have charged someone else’s order to me, the employee sent me to the front desk because receipts go there at night. The desk said they couldn’t help since I hadn’t charged it to my room. Now I have to dispute the charge through American Express. It was an all-around sketchy experience, and the only time I’ve ever had to dispute a merchant charge.

Don’t book the jr suite. We chose it for the nicer bathroom, with the shower separate from the tub, and that was the only extra we got for the much higher price. The bathroom looked like a standard room’s, and the photos on the hotel website showed a much bigger, nicer one. The front desk was rude and refused to work with us because we’d booked through a third party. When we asked for a manager to call, the manager told us to talk to our credit card company, which contacted the hotel anyway. Nothing came of it. They said “seperate bathtub” didn’t mean separate from the shower, which makes no sense given the photos. The TV barely worked and was a struggle to use. The photos aren’t accurate.
