Baymont by Wyndham Detroit/Roseville

I came from out of town for work and booked here to avoid spending a couple hundred dollars for just two nights. Outside, some windows were broken and the area looked sketchy. The lobby and my room both smelled awful, and everything in the room looked dirty, from the mirror to the blankets. I didn’t even put my things down. I went straight to the desk and left for somewhere else. I was there for only 10 minutes, but the man at the front desk, who didn’t speak very good English, refused to refund me. I’ll never come back or recommend it.

The manager couldn’t show that we’d stayed in the room more than 15 minutes, but argued with me and then left the call. When I asked him in person to prove it, he threatened to call the police. We’re two young Black women. I told him to call, but he never did. I then called Wyndham Rewards again and had to file a formal complaint. They talk about the benefits and service members should get, but their hotels need to be held to those standards too. I’m a Wyndham Rewards Diamond member, and check in was awful from the start. I wasn’t welcomed as a Rewards Member or given any of the member amenities. The floor was covered in cracker crumbs, the room looked unvacuumed, and the a/c unit was broken. We asked to switch rooms, but were told they were full. We checked out, and I called Wyndham Rewards to get my points back. The manager checked the room because we’d left a cash deposit, then returned it. While I was on the phone with Rewards, the representative said he hadn’t approved my points because we’d been in the room for more than 15 minutes, which wasn’t true.

Omg, Sarah at the front desk was so helpful and awesome. She really saved the day. They’re good people with good hearts. Thank you so much, I’m looking forward to staying here again. God bless!

I’m here for work, spending 6 to 8 hours a day outside and then another 2 to 3 hours on computer work in the evening. It’s not ideal, but beats a cubicle. My coworker and I both got unsafe Wi-Fi warnings on all our devices when we tried to log in. I don’t need fancy extras at a budget motel, but safe, usable Wi-Fi is a must these days, and this place fell short.
