Wingate by Wyndham Roseville/Detroit

There was a $50 deposit that I still hadn't received after three business days, and I also wasted the money on a room I couldn't use. I didn't shower or sleep there. I left and found another hotel. On September 14, the night desk person made me plunge the toilet myself after I checked in, saying nobody from housekeeping was available. I asked for help and couldn't get another room. It was disgusting. The toilet was full of tissue, with pee stains on the seat and a horrible smell. There were lots of hairs on the sink counter, and the shower had built-up foam and dirt from previous use. The hotel was filthy, with very dirty carpet in the lobby and upstairs hall, and a strong stench of marijuana and cigarettes. Multiple people were smoking weed on the bench at the entrance. At 10 a.m., a woman was smoking weed beneath my window and yelling at her daughter. I will never stay here again. This place should be one star and allow smoking.

For the price, this place is head and shoulders above the other hotels in the area. Of the longer-term hotels I've stayed in, this is the only staff that has felt small and personal while really trying to make guests comfortable. Long-stay places often take a mercenary approach, even though many people staying there are under strain if their situation isn't corporate or work-related. Here, the staff try to accommodate people instead of making things harder when they're already under duress. That alone has earned my loyalty. They also work to keep this hotel cleaner and more hospitable than the others in the region. Highly recommended.

The room had stained sheets, dried food on the walls, and duct tape in the TV remote. The fridge and coffee maker were broken. When we asked for a working coffee maker, they gave us a hard time and never replaced it. We also had to push for extra pillows because my mom needs to sleep propped up. The staff were downright rude the whole time, and my daughter and her friend saw a dead cockroach in the pool area. Hands down the worst hotel experience I've ever had. It was bad, bad. Do not stay here.

The young man working the overnight shift is very customer-friendly and provides excellent service. The people who clean the rooms are very nice too.
