TRU by Hilton Perrysburg Toledo, OH

The lobby was a pleasant spot to relax, and breakfast offered a good variety. My room felt fresh, with a really comfortable bed, and the staff were friendly and helpful from check-in through check-out. Tru by Hilton was clean, modern, and comfortable. It was an easy, pleasant stay, and I’d definitely return.

The staff were wonderful, and I really enjoyed my time here. I drove down from Michigan for a comedy show and booked this hotel. It’s a beautiful place that seems to have been built in the past few years. There’s free Wi-Fi, and breakfast was okay, nothing special, but it hit the spot. My only issue was the lack of coffee machines in the rooms, so you have to go to the lobby. That would bother me on the 4th floor because I drink a lot of coffee. A machine in the room would make things right. I’d gladly stay here again.

I picked this hotel because nearby places only accepted service dogs, not pets. I was up against the wall in the photos. With two adults and my 65 lb dog, the room was so small we could hardly move around each other. It’s nearly on the turnpike, so there was some noise, and breakfast costs $10 per person. Customer service and cleanliness were the only good parts. There was no microwave or coffee maker, despite what was advertised, and no bathroom exhaust fan. The glass shower door had no seals, so water got everywhere and made the floor very slippery. I went to the lobby for coffee, but it was extremely weak and lukewarm. I don’t like strong coffee, but this was too weak. There’s a good reason it’s so inexpensive.

Hilton Corporate Guest Assistance eventually issued a refund directly after the hotel didn’t resolve the charge. I appreciate Corporate correcting the situation, though the property needs to do better with communication and accountability. I had to cancel my reservation at Tru by Hilton Perrysburg, Ohio, because of a snow squall. Before canceling, I called and spoke with supervisor Novi, who assured me there would be no cancellation charge. Even so, my card was later charged for one night. When I followed up, Novi denied that conversation, although a front desk staff member had transferred my call to him at the time. The way it was handled was disappointing and unprofessional.
