Kara's Kottages @ W. Main St

We only wanted to spend one night away from home, but it felt like moving from one home to another. Kara paid attention to so many little things, and we felt at home from the moment we walked in. The electric fireplace was cozy, the bed was comfortable, and the kitchen had just about every breakfast item we could want. Can't wait to come back with the family next time. Five stars all the way!

I’m very particular about cleanliness, and this place was so tidy I could walk around in my socks. It was clean, cozy, cute, pet friendly, and a great price. Booking was easy, and our overnight stay was lovely. This was my first time trying somewhere other than a traditional hotel or motel, and I'm glad I gave it a chance. We’ll definitely return when we're back this way. Highly recommend it ❤

We came for a family wedding and our group booked three suites, rooms, or flats for two nights. The house has the feel and details of a home from the early 1900s, with furniture and little touches that make it feel nothing like a motel. It was all very clean. I forgot my shower supplies, but shampoo and conditioner were provided. I also loved the good, real coffee and coffee maker. Restaurants, bars, and the wedding destination were all nearby, less than a five-minute drive away.

The house was dark and had no heat. When I called Kara, she told me, "Just make a fire, people have been using fire for heat for thousands of years." It was an unfamiliar place with no carbon monoxide detectors, so that was ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend Kara's Kottages if you expect heat or a friendly, considerate host. The advertised breakfast pantry items were expired, some by more than five years. There was pancake mix, oatmeal, spices, and oil in there. I'm not sure why I'd make that up. Sharing what happened isn't 'revenge'; it's an honest review. In her reply, once again it was the customer's fault for something wrong with the house. It seems to be a pattern. There was one space heater, and she made us pick up another from a different property. Running space heaters overnight isn't safe, so that wasn't a good fix. She offered us alternate lodging in the evening, after my son had gone to sleep, but it was definitely not equal, too small and in a shared building. Very disappointing.
