Clarion Inn Belle Vernon

Once we got into the room, my wife and I checked it carefully, lifting the covers and looking over the pillows, pillowcases, fridge, and microwave. We found multiple stains, and what looked like a bug, not a stain, on the covers. When we moved the microwave, a roach tried to hide. The moldy smell had hit us as soon as my family and I walked into the Clarion in, but we decided to overlook it at first. Then the same smell was in the room. Walking down the hall, we saw numerous doors open on both sides. As a husband and father, I immediately questioned my decision, with our three-year-old by our side. This isn't customer service.

We were upstairs, which I believe has been refurbished. Downstairs was being refurbished while we were there, so maybe that's where some of the negative reviews came from. I'd give it 7/10. The room was nice, with white sheets and a comfy bed. A few things were damaged, but nothing that put us off.

The locked-up food in the lobby and the closed restaurant, which looked like it hadn't had a customer in ages, added to an awful stay. I tried to heat water in the microwave and was grossed out by the grease under the rotating plate. The place was dirty, smelly, moldy, and under construction. I can't believe it's part of the Choice Hotels family. I'm angry with myself for staying. I should have walked out when I saw the hallway, but it was late and I was exhausted.

I appreciated the breakfast choices, especially the breakfast sandwiches and protein drinks. My room smelled moldy, and it was very dark outside at night.
