Aloft by Marriott Austin Round Rock

The cleaning crew were really sweet, and the rooms themselves are nice enough. But you can hear EVERYTHING. My main problem was one of the male evening clerks, who had an attitude and an uncomfortable back-and-forth with us. Neither time we spoke was he pleasant. He might be better suited to an overnight or other job away from guests.

There’s a small bar and lounge with a pool table, plus a gym and an outdoor pool. My room was clean, comfortable, and simple, though storage and drawer space were sparse, which I guess is the A Loft setup. Check-in was easy, and the staff were welcoming and very professional.

You can hear everything out in the hallway, and the response time was slow. Staff were dusting the lobby while customers were nearby. I asked for a lint roller for my clothes and you can see what came below. Requests tend to be denied or met with “we don’t have it.” There was no ironing board, breakfast choices were limited, and lobby water wasn’t complimentary. They charge for every small amenity. Cheap hotel, cheap management approach. Go to Elements across the parking lot.

The front desk staff were extremely kind, friendly, and helpful. For the price, it’s good value, and I was surprised by the gym. Hotels in this price range usually have almost nothing to use, but this one was well equipped for a quick workout.
