The Stoneleigh, Autograph Collection

I’d been looking forward to The Stoneleigh, Autograph Collection, especially after it joined Marriott’s Autograph Collection. I booked two nights but left after the first. The redesign is beautiful, though the Hollywood Art Deco look is very specific and may not suit everyone. The front desk team was stellar and really did try to help. The room looked clean at first, but unpacking showed otherwise: broken glass and visible blood stains on the carpet, crumbs and debris in several spots, and hair on the bathroom floor. I asked for the housekeeping manager, who was visibly surprised and said she’d coordinate next steps with the front desk. Comfort was poor too. The AC was extremely loud all night, the bed was uncomfortable, and I found out the hotel no longer has any feather bedding or pillows. The bedding felt cheap for an Autograph Collection property, where those comfort details matter. I had a horrible night’s sleep and checked out early. The front desk said they’d follow up, but I heard nothing for 10 days until I called and emailed myself. That response time is unacceptable. A few other things fell short: the pool area was dirty, and one morning there was water all over the gym floor, a safety hazard I had to point out to a team member. The bathroom products were cheap, the smell was horrible, and the body wash was green. There’s no complimentary water in the room, either. As a Titanium member, I shouldn’t have to beg the front desk for it. The location is fantastic and the hotel has plenty of potential, but the operational problems and lack of comfort were deeply disappointing. I was due back the following week and canceled that reservation. I’d been genuinely excited about the stay.

The late-night noise from the very loud bar across the street was the one real downside, especially on weekends. Even so, I absolutely loved staying at Le Méridien Dallas, The Stoneleigh. Its Uptown location makes it easy to get to restaurants, nightlife, and the rest of the city. The renovation looks stunning. It keeps the character of the hotel’s 1923 history while giving it a fresh, luxurious feel. The Art Deco design is full of personality, and the elegant rooms were comfortable and thoughtfully updated. Service was excellent from start to finish. Aside from that bar noise, it’s a fantastic historic hotel and one of Dallas’s most beautiful places to stay.

Wow, this hotel’s a gem. Great location, and the valet attendants greeted us warmly. Manny and Ramos are the best valets in Uptown, maybe in Dallas. At the desk, Paris and Britney were such a charm. They greeted every guest with a glass of champagne at check-in. Our room was clean and beautiful. The pool, table games, and bar are things you have to experience in person. Can’t wait to try the new restaurant 😍 10/10!

The hotel itself has been amazing on our few stays here. Everyone from the front desk to parking was great, and they were very courteous to us. I’m sorry to leave a negative review about the restaurant, but what happened there clouded my stay. I’m not sure whether the hotel owns it, but the incident was a terrible reflection. I’ll return to the Stoneleigh, but never to the restaurant. My husband and I were visiting from Virginia. While I waited off to the side, a young woman at the front who introduced herself as Toni or Tony spoke extremely unprofessionally. After helping the group ahead of me, she went back to the older female manager at the front and said, “white women are the worst.” A few staff members nearby could likely hear. I was standing there as a white woman myself. She quickly changed her tone and asked how she could help me while I waited for my husband. I was stunned and regret not speaking to the manager. I plan to follow up with Marriott corporate at the end of the week. How does management allow that attitude at a brand new establishment?
