SpringHill Suites by Marriott Austin Round Rock

Our stay had been great until the bathroom mirror fell off its frame and we were charged for it. There was no roughhousing, and my husband had barely touched the mirror. The maintenance worker cleared the broken glass, then put the mirror back with exposed glass. Since we had children with us, he offered to remove it entirely because it was a safety hazard. The front desk and regional manager still wouldn’t remove the charge. She said quality checks had found no earlier problem with the mirror, which I find hard to believe after seeing trash behind a lamp in plain sight. Very disappointing.

It’s a quiet hotel in a nice area, with clean, comfortable rooms. You can walk to a great pizzeria and brewhouse, or to a really good whiskey cake place. If you’re going to something at Round Rock Sports Center, it’s walkable in nice weather and only a short drive otherwise.

After two nights here, I came out to my truck at 10:00am after checkout and found the rear driver’s window smashed. Several other cars had been hit too. The thieves got in through the window, rummaged through everything, and took about $5 in quarters. My truck still has paint scratches, a damaged door panel from the broken glass, and scratches on the leather seat. I paid $373 to replace the window and have the police report and photos. When I went inside, staff said they’d heard about it but showed little concern. The General Manager listened politely when I called, then offered to add points to my rewards account. She said the lot was like parking on a random street and they wouldn’t help with the damage. They choose not to have outside cameras, security, or fences on their private property. I believe they’re responsible, but I couldn’t get them to pay. If your family ran into the thieves during the crime, you might get shot. Think twice about staying in Round Rock, especially at hotels without security.

The rooms smelled, and the A/C wasn’t working right. Breakfast was poor, too. I’d booked three rooms with king-size beds, but after checking in I found queen-size beds instead. The woman at the front desk denied that this was the case, calling all their rooms “Queenish King.” I’d never heard that term before.
