The exposed beams and wallpaper give the place a lovely old-time feel, and the beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and close to the rooms. I especially liked the inn’s unusual layout and the original wooden floors, which creak a little, probably from all the people who’ve walked on them over the years. Tucked away in the woods of Rowe, MA, Maple House Inn feels like a quiet escape from city noise and a chance to unplug. The old country character, comfortable atmosphere, and distinctive artwork make it feel welcoming, especially if you love antiques. The husband-and-wife hosts made us feel welcome, and the kitchenette had breakfast items for an easy meal or a snack. I’d happily come back for a quiet writing or art retreat. There’s something about staying in an old inn in the woods that gets the creative juices flowing.

The owners were welcoming and accommodating, and breakfast was very good. We also had fun playing with the dog, who loved catching a frisbee mid-air. There are a few sheep in the barn, and we went to see the newborn lamb. We stayed for a winter weekend and could snowshoe and cross-country ski from the backyard onto the town trails. The B&B was comfortable and quiet, and we enjoyed sitting by the family-room fireplace on a cold night.

Our rooms were cozy and charming, and the grounds were picturesque, with a flock of sheep and several chickens whose eggs we got to enjoy. We had a delightful weekend at Maple House with friends, and the hospitality was exceptional. Can’t wait to ride up and see all those brass beds in bloom. Thank you, Rebecca and Mark, for sharing your lovely home with us.

Our hostess, Rebecca, was the best, and she makes delicious breakfasts. The place is cozy and pastoral, with interesting, creative touches throughout and plenty of spaces to relax. Excellent! I couldn’t recommend this delightful little piece of paradise more.

A very peaceful stay, with a charming room and a kind, helpful hostess. There’s plenty to do nearby, including in North Adams, and water sports are close too. They now rent all three rooms, each with its own bath, along with the kitchen to groups.
