Holiday Inn Express and Suites Charlottesville

My stays here have been okay, but the price feels high for this kind of hotel. It was $188 per night plus tax, with another $20 per night held for incidentals and refunded after the stay. I thought keeping a card on file was meant to cover that. There’s no coffee maker in the room, either.

It got really noisy in the early morning, and I’m not sure what was going on. Otherwise, the room was huge and clean, the staff were friendly, and there were plenty of places to get takeout. They were accommodating with my dog, too.

We used this location for a business meeting, and Leon made everything easy. He helped with the meeting spaces and followed up on all our guest rooms. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and Leon even took time to talk with us at checkout. I can’t thank him enough. We’ll use this place again, five stars all around.

The breakfast was especially disappointing, and the service overall was poor. At over $200 a night for a big room, I expected better. I asked for an extra blanket and was told none were available. They said they’d check with a customer later when one became available, but nobody ever followed up. For two days there were no pastries, fruit, oatmeal, or yogurt. Breakfast was bare bones, and when I asked the front desk what was going on, she couldn’t be bothered to help and said someone hadn’t come in. The nearest grocery store is 3 miles away, so couldn’t they figure something out? I saw other guests skip breakfast and bring their own fruit. The dairy fridge was dirty for both days, the milk jug was often empty, and breakfast service was basically nonexistent. Such a disgrace to the Ihg brand.
