Motel6 Omaha, NE - Central

I wouldn’t recommend this motel unless your budget is extremely tight. The area feels kind of shady, with homeless people sometimes sleeping in or around the building. There may be drug dealing, given the regular police presence, and there was recently a stabbing that left someone in the hospital with critical injuries. It has problems, so stay at your own risk.

I arrived at 6 a.m. without having reserved a room, and had to check out around 10 that same morning. The front desk guy was really sweet and understanding, and stayed until I arrived and checked in and out. The room was a little barebones, but I hadn’t booked in advance, so that may explain it. I think they’d done renovations or something because everything felt new. My only complaint is that the bathroom door wouldn’t close all the way. Otherwise, the service and room were great.

There was a domestic situation, and I saw homeless people hanging around the entrance and my parked car late at night. I didn’t feel safe here. People seemed to be living at the location, and there was a lot of activity outside in the parking lot. When I told the desk clerk I was concerned, she said guests needed a place to smoke. That wasn’t what was happening.

The room was clean and free of bugs, and the bedding seemed pretty new, so it wasn’t all bad. Still, the building is very old and poorly cared for, and the room had a foul smell I couldn’t identify. The TV wasn’t connected to anything and didn’t work. When we mentioned it, the desk clerk said, “Yeah sometimes the TVs dont work.” We were near the lobby, where people came and went at all hours, talking loudly and shouting at each other. The overnight receptionist brought her young child, who was shouting at 3 a.m. The whole atmosphere felt pretty unpleasant.
