Boarders Inn & Suites by Cobblestone Hotels - Shawano

We were already uncomfortable from check-in, but tried to let it go so our kids could enjoy their mini vacation. Three of the four staff we dealt with were rude and unprofessional, and we felt judged for our appearance. I have nose piercings and a face tattoo, and I felt they treated us differently because we’re African-American. I’m a supervisor at another hotel, and this is not how guests should be treated. After swimming, our key stopped working. General manager Jenny, also called Jennifer, asked for our IDs, which I understood, but then said we had to name items in the room and that she had to go in first to check it before us, as if we might be trying to enter someone else’s room. I asked another employee if that was normal; she said definitely not. We got ugly looks and stares throughout our stay. We’d booked two days, then went to book one more night, expecting a charge of 164. The woman charged 364 and refused to refund it, telling us to wait for a manager the next morning. At 8:30 AM we spoke with Jennifer, who tried to justify her behavior and the nearly $400 charge for a 164 stay. We asked to cancel the remaining nights and get a refund, but she made that seem like a problem too. She refused to give me another manager’s number. I also emailed a higher manager and hope to hear back. I have video of the rude service. This was a horrible stay, and I won’t return or recommend the hotel. I’m from this reservation, I didn’t know I needed to walk around with a headdress and the wear to be treated equally, or for y’all to tell that I’m native and from here just because I look differently.
