A fun, relaxing trip. This little gem is tucked into one of the most beautiful parts of Wyoming, with lovely staff, comfortable accommodations, and excellent food.

Horseback riding was the best part for me, and it was such an enjoyable experience. We also loved Debbie’s wonderful food. The family-run ranch made us feel so welcome, almost like we’d known everyone for years. My husband and I had a relaxing, wonderful stay at Medicine Bow Lodge and couldn’t have asked for more. We’d recommend it to anyone wanting to leave everyday stress behind and spend time with family and nature. We’ll be back!

The lodge’s history and rustic look made it fascinating, and Tim kept it warm and cozy. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and Tim was very accommodating. He cooked wonderfully and took great care of me and my friends. Tim and Debbie are lovely people, and their dogs are too. I had a great three-day weekend here. Better snow would have made the trip even better, but we had good times and I’d send anyone I know to experience the lodge. Thanks, Tim and Debbie.

We’ve held two family reunions at the MBL, and Tim and Debbie welcomed everyone in our very diverse family. The food was great, including custom plates for a few people with serious allergies. Rooms were rustic, clean, and nice. From the two-year-old to the 77-year-old, everyone rode horses, while the rest of us also shot skeet. The little one sat that out. Evenings meant a fire, the lodge games area, and time to relax. The quieter members of the family rode the gentlest horses and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The kids loved riding too, and the e-bikes were fun. There’s a trail right behind the lodge that climbs an 800-foot hill, plus plenty more trails to hike or run. Ask Tim about taking you to “Wow” lake in the Medicine Bow mountains. He has canoes and fishing gear, and even a short hike lets you take in the special alpine scenery. We hiked Medicine Bow Peak on the drive home, and it was absolutely gorgeous. French Canyon has decent climbing at 4 Stories, too. Three of us climb a lot. This feels like a real western place, run by good people who care about their guests, rather than a glossy Western-themed spot. Those places are getting harder to find, and I’d highly recommend a visit. The one drawback is the basic lodge internet. It’s enough to send some emails, and cell texts mostly work. About five minutes up the road, though, I could get full-speed cell internet and make video calls when needed.
