I'm a Certified Travel Advisor, a disabled, queer Veteran, and this week-long stay was neither welcoming nor satisfactory. The suites were comfortable, and the restaurant staff were friendly, but breakfast was average. There were marks on the walls, and the windows wouldn't open to let in fresh air, so the room felt stale. One male front desk employee was genuinely welcoming, and Stephen, the GM, showed empathy and acted quickly to resolve the charges. He even comped two nights, and I'm sincerely grateful he took time to talk with me. The hotel charged me three times, nearly $4,000 in the first two days. I was refunded on day four or five, but most front desk staff were argumentative, unprofessional, and lacking empathy. They called it a “miscommunication,” blamed me and my travel agency, and only became pleasant once Stephen took over. Three staff members mistreated me, and the front desk and accounting staff wouldn't own up to the mistake, despite supporting documents. They offered no apology; only Stephen and my travel agency's support team apologized. The false charges caused temporary financial hardship, and the whole ordeal was a nightmare. I shared my concerns with Stephen, including that the majority of front desk staff need training in conflict resolution, empathy, and basic courtesy. It was my first stay and will be my last. This may not happen to most guests, but if you're booking and run into wrongful charges or mistreatment, contact the GM directly.

The rooms are remodeled, with kitchens, and the whole building was super clean with a fresh scent. Higher floors have lovely views, and it was quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant is pricey, and parking costs extra, but I liked the hotel.

The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and I liked having a small kitchen with a microwave. It was handy to eat takeout from a real plate. The staff downstairs were friendly, and the place was clean apart from a few mysterious long black hairs in the shower. The bath products had a mild scent, which I appreciated. Midtown is a favorite, with good food options nearby. The lobby is elegant, and the hotel seems to be a popular bar and restaurant. That restaurant is also where included breakfast is served. The food was a little better than basic and nicely presented, and the scrambled eggs tasted freshly made. The oatmeal, though, was spoiled by big chunks of melting butter on top. Why? Steel-cut oats are usually a healthy whole grain. I'd happily stay again.

The restoration looks good, the location is great, and the lounge is pleasant. Breakfast is fine and served in a nice setting. My room's one small window was filthy, though. Surely they could schedule window washing.

Anna Maria at the front desk went above and beyond, even grabbing a mop to clean our floors herself. She deserves a raise and a management role. Tanisha and Anna Maria were both kind and friendly. We were staying near Sutter Medical Center from 12/7-12/15/25 while I recovered from surgery, partly because of the ADA availability, so Anna Maria's initiative meant a lot. The room wasn't properly cleaned: the pull-out sofa was dirty, and there was hair, food debris, and trash with toenail clippings. I have photos. Those problems continued despite repeated housekeeping requests. Communication between the front desk and housekeeping was a serious concern. Housekeeping was unreliable and made us leave the room for hours each day. Once, immediately after surgery, I had to be out for four and a half hours, from 1-5:28pm, and came back to find the room still uncleaned. Both TVs malfunctioned for the whole stay, streaming never worked, and IT couldn't fix it. Dogs in the hotel across from us barked continuously. The thermostat also didn't work properly, so I was freezing or waking up sweating in the middle of the night. It was a nightmare, especially after my previous stay at this property had gone well. This visit fell far below Hyatt's standards for cleanliness, care, and guest safety, particularly for someone medically vulnerable. I work in the medical field, and I wouldn't want loved ones staying here if their health mattered.
