Just to be clear, this review is about a stay from a few days ago, not the one from years back. Why would I review an old stay? I stand by what I posted, and I'd pay for anyone to spend a night in the room we had and see what they think. The location is beautiful, and the staff were wonderful. That's the only positive I can give. The room smelled musty and moldy, the sheets and bed felt wet, and neither the room nor towels seemed clean. The smell made it hard to sleep. The pool was dirty and full of leaves and debris, even though we were excited to swim. The rooms were under construction years ago, and apparently still are. I couldn't watch TV without someone from the front desk coming to set it up, which felt very odd. When rain knocked out the internet around 10 p.m., we couldn't watch TV for the rest of the night. There were only a few other guests while we were there. With the right upgrades, this beautiful hotel could be amazing, but as it is, I can see why it had so few customers.

It felt like a closed hotel, with hardly any staff around, which was really odd. The room was sticky and humid, even though that wasn't the outdoor air. There was coffee but no pot. The bed was fine, but everything else was old and needed maintenance. The online pictures were very good and gave a misleading impression of the place.

Nothing was plugged in when we arrived, and there weren't any towels in the room. The carpet was gross and everything felt sticky. The staff were rude and extremely annoying, like they had nothing better to do. I swear, I'm never coming back :)

I arrived on my reservation date, December 5, 2025, but was told the hotel had me down for two days earlier and had marked me as a no-show. I showed them my Booking.com confirmation with the correct date, but they said there was nothing they could do and told me to take it up with Booking.com. I needed a room that night, so I had no choice but to pay again. Then the handle came off the door when I went back out to my car for my things. I was stuck inside for a while as I figured out how to put it back on and get it working. It came off whenever I tried to leave. A support ticket to Booking.com for a refund on the unused reservation went nowhere. They said they tried to contact the hotel, but nobody responded, so I was out of luck. A very frustrating experience. At this point, I probably won't use Booking.com or this hotel again.

The staff were friendly, and management was very responsive. I felt completely safe, and the pool looked well cared for, with families swimming there. Breakfast was a modest self-serve spread of coffee, OJ, toast, cereal, and so on. The owners apparently have good plans, based on my conversation with the staff. I'd stay again if I needed a place to rest my head. We stayed in October 2025. The Hotel Francis is an old motel with relatively new owners, and they're gradually fixing up the rooms, common areas, exterior, and parking area. There's still a ways to go. The room had a new TV, bed, and AC unit, but the bathroom, vanity, and entrance hadn't been renovated, so you can tell it's an old motel. Pleasing stay, 4/5.
