We asked for a refund and left within an hour. The outlets had burn marks and were faulty, and cockroaches seemed ready to carry off the kids. There was a six-inch gap between the wall and the HVAC unit, so January air came straight in. We couldn't use the fridge, TV, or microwave all at once without deciding which one mattered most. There was a loud beeping noise, and the smoke detector had been removed, leaving no alarm if those faulty outlets caused a fire. Getting hold of anyone who worked there meant using a fully charged phone. English wasn't an option. The room had an outdoor feel inside, and the only upside was the 1970s dressers, for a nostalgic touch. Staying there made me feel like I was taking up a room amid all its splendid wonders. My husband and I left.
