SureStay by Best Western Salem

They're putting in fresh carpet and paint, and the bar is gone. The room was very clean, with a comfortable bed and pillows. This place has improved a lot, and I'm glad to see it. I'd definitely stay again.

We were in town from Canada for a business trip last week, and the check-in with Victor was fantastic. The room was decent for the price, and this honestly seems like the only clean spot in town. When the TV started acting up, he fixed it right away. He also patiently helped me figure out some new software on my laptop, which saved my business presentation. My fiancée was impressed too, especially since he refused a tip. He's a real beauty of a guy. Victor made sure our email receipt arrived right away today, just what we needed for the expense report. We'll absolutely come back next trip.

I was really upset that I'd already paid, because otherwise I would've left. The hotel is very outdated inside, with no elevator, no vending machines, and not much nearby. When I asked the man at the front counter if I could buy a drink from the supposed convenience store, he just said no and didn't point me toward anything else. The pool was the only reason I booked, but it was unavailable even though they advertised it and charged for it. I tried calling ahead, but nobody answered. Breakfast was advertised and paid for too, but turned out to be a rolled-up bag of value cereal. This was the worst hotel experience I've had on a trip. I was very disappointed, and could definitely have given my kids a better stay elsewhere. I won't stay at a Best Western again and don't recommend this place.

On Saturday morning the toilet overflowed, so I asked for extra towels and for someone to clean up the bathroom. Nobody touched it. At the desk I was told there was no housekeeping, and they handed me pool towels to put down. Completely unacceptable. The Wi-Fi wasn't working, and neither were the phones to the front desk. When we checked out Sunday, there was nobody at the desk, just keys being left there, and no breakfast. I called the number posted and was told we were checked out. I never received an email with my charges. I was told at arrival that breakfast would be limited, which was okay for Saturday, but there was nothing on Sunday.
