Comfort Inn & Suites Salinas City Center Area

I booked through booking.com and chose to pay when I arrived, but the hotel took my money right away. When I offered the reservation code, the front desk woman wouldn’t even check and just said there was nothing under my name, then acted too busy to help. She was rude and treated me like I had no money or anything, like I was below her. When I tried to cancel, they still tried to charge me the same amount even though I never stayed. I’ll never do survey with the Comfort Inn again. Horrible customer service. If I could leave zero stars, I would.

I was in Salinas, CA for a funeral on 2/22/2025 and booked this hotel because I didn’t realize we had somewhere to stay. I cancelled within 10 minutes, and Booking.com notified me that they’d contacted the hotel, but I was still charged. The manager/owner, Roshni, refused to refund me and kept changing the explanation. First she said they hadn’t received the cancellation notice. When I showed proof from Booking.com, she said I should have called personally. I didn’t think I needed to because Booking.com had already said it notified the hotel. Then she said they’d been charged commission and couldn’t do anything. Booking.com offered to waive the commission and called the hotel for me. They told me the email address Booking.com had for the hotel was wrong, so the hotel hadn’t received the cancellation request. Keeping those records up to date is the manager/owner’s responsibility. Roshni still refused the refund, now saying Booking.com was lying and should have called instead of emailing. From what I’ve read in other Google reviews, the manager/owner has gotten over on many people before and should be investigated for fraud.

The room was clean and spacious, the bed comfortable, and the place quiet. The staff were friendly and accommodating. A huge difference from the BW next door.

The room was amazing, with a couch, fridge, microwave, and small sink. There was plenty of hot water and good pressure, and they brought spare towels without any trouble. The bed, though, was hard and stiff with no give. I tossed and turned all night and woke up several times because I couldn’t sleep. Be mindful of the hookers, drug dealers, and homeless people nearby.
