Inns of California Salinas

They quoted me a rate for two days, but on the second day they said I'd paid for only one night and told me to check out. They also don't provide coffee in the room or hand towels.

I only stayed because there wasn't anywhere else available, and I won't rent here again. The place was so gross that I tried cleaning it before settling in, but two hours later the grime was still there and I refused to keep scrubbing. There was dirt on the walls and blood stains everywhere. The toilet seat was broken too. The room cost $120, and they still wanted a deposit, lol, for what? My dog's house is cleaner than this place.

The bathroom was nice and the shower was huge, but that was about the only bright spot. My boyfriend and I arrived around 8 PM Saturday. Staff were friendly, though at least 15 people were hanging around outside and by the stairs to our room. The room looked outdated, even though everything worked. We heard the people in both rooms next to us all night, and the bed was rock hard. The two pillows were so old they barely counted as pillows. The latch on our door was broken, so we put a table in front of it to sleep. At 4 AM our phone rang, and when my boyfriend answered, loud rap music was playing. He looked out and saw four cop cars heading toward the back of the hotel. Then at 5 AM the phone rang again, and someone said hello but nothing more. We'd gone to bed at 11. It felt like a scary movie, and we paid way too much for it. My boyfriend had seen decent reviews and heard the place was newly renovated, but maybe those reviews were for a different hotel. I really don't recommend it.

There's a neat little area out back on the ground floor, plus small balconies upstairs. Most of the place was clean.
