Motel 6-Salinas, CA - South - Monterey Area

The office staff were friendly and accommodating, but I won't stay here again. The housekeeping needs improvement or supervision, and the owner should spend some of the income on new linen. The bedspread was stained and there was hair on the blanket, which was unacceptable. I was told to take off the bedspread and that maintenance would be notified. The next day, there was still hair on the blanket, so I moved to another room. The following morning there was no hot or warm water. The office said maintenance would check, took my number, and of course never called.

Check-in customer service was good, and the stay was okay, though I expected a little more for an affordable hotel aimed at working people. We were three, but the room had three towels and only two washcloths. They seemed hesitant when we asked for another towel and washcloth. The room smelled like smoke, maybe from the person next door. I don't remember being asked whether we wanted smoking or nonsmoking, but I definitely wanted nonsmoking. At 7 PM, the free morning coffee was already gone. There was only one pot, and if coffee is all that's offered, there should be plenty. Guests, though, please don't hog it with reusable mugs. Everybody needs their caffeine.

The room was nice and inexpensive, and the hotel was quiet and clean. Staff were super polite and accommodating. The AC was the one thing below standard. The first room's unit didn't work, so the staff kindly switched us, but the AC in the new room was out too. We had to keep the window open. Other than that, it was great!

The manager who checked us in was great, and the room was clean, with nice beds and pillows that I loved. Still, it was an okay stay. I was disappointed there was no basic shampoo, conditioner, or lotion, and the room didn't have an iron, hair dryer, or even a small coffee pot.
