Fairfield Inn by Marriott Salt Lake City Airport

The remodel looks great, but service was a lot worse than on my previous visit. The shuttle stopped running early even though we’d told them we would be there for the last pickup of the day. Calls to the hotel went unanswered, there was no change for the washers and dryers, and the room had no hangers.

The location is good and the staff is decent, but I won’t stay here again and would recommend removing the hotel from the company’s recommendations. I’d first given it two stars, then came back to take one away. For three days in a row, someone entered my room and moved my things, even though I was told they would come in only once every three days. Today they touched my toothbrush. I had to go to the desk and ask the receptionist to note in the system that service should stop in my room. What are we even talking about?

The hotel looks nice, and it’s close enough to the airport with a decent shuttle, but the renovations made this a tough time to stay. Water was shut off during the day, and there were other inconveniences. The biggest problem for us was that they couldn’t store luggage because their usual luggage room was being used for construction. The night before, a staff member had said we should be able to leave our small bags behind the desk after checkout while we went out to SLC for the day. Instead, we had to take everything into the city and pay for luggage storage. Service wasn’t the best, and breakfast was very lacking. Even the orange juice machine was broken. I probably wouldn’t stay here during the renovations.

We finally found another place around 3:00 am, after the hotel canceled all four nights of our reservation. We had booked in March 2024, along with family members who made multiple night reservations for the same period. On April 30, the hotel emailed me to check in online. I did that on May 1 and said I’d arrive very late, at 1:00 am. When we got there, the desk worker said we were no-shows, our reservation had been canceled, and the room had been given away. She said their policy was to release rooms at 11:00 pm. I explained that I had checked in online, but she said their hotel didn’t offer that service. When I asked about other accommodations, she said it wasn’t her problem and became very rude. She wouldn’t give me her name or the manager’s, and the manager’s name wasn’t posted as it normally is. We explained that we were staying several nights and had family arriving too. She said we could check in after 3:00 on the 2nd, even though we knew it would be a busy weekend and had booked well in advance. DO NOT STAY HERE if you have a late flight. Their policy is to release your room if you haven’t checked in by 11:00 pm.
