Hilton Garden Inn Salt Lake City Airport

After driving from Portland, Oregon, I was tired and frustrated. I’d called at 8 a.m. and noon to ask about checking in early at 1, but was told the king rooms on the top floor still weren’t clean when I arrived. The customer service woman was rude and no help. She said housekeeping could be asked to clean the room first, but couldn’t guarantee they would, even though they knew I was waiting for early check-in. GPS had first sent me to Doubletree by Hilton. I’d planned to wait at the bar, only to find it wasn’t open. The staff offered to cancel my reservation and send me elsewhere, but I’d already paid and getting a cancellation and refund would be a process. I had plans at 2:30 and again at 7, with no time to change. The lack of effort to help customers was astounding. There are several other hotels next door and within walking distance. Go there, even Doubletree by Hilton, where they were super nice when I realized GPS had taken me to the wrong hotel.

The front desk team is what keeps bringing me back to the Hilton Garden Inn near the Salt Lake City Airport. I travel often for business and have stayed at many hotels, but the women at reception are consistently attentive, accommodating, and warm. They help with early check-ins, local questions, and transportation, and they’re friendly even when the lobby is busy. Their professionalism and kindness make a lasting impression. The rooms are reliably clean, quiet, and well cared for. They’re laid out thoughtfully, and the beds are comfortable, which matters when you arrive late or leave early for a flight. The hotel is right by the airport, yet it stays relaxing and quiet. Parking is easy, the property feels safe, and getting around is straightforward for business or leisure. Each visit has felt comfortable and consistent. It’s clear the hotel values its guests and keeps good standards across the property. I highly recommend it to anyone passing through Salt Lake City, whether for one night or several. I’ll keep staying here whenever I’m in the area.

The rooms were really nice, though I found the thermostat confusing because its controls weren’t labeled clearly. What bothered me most was having to pay for breakfast: $16 for the buffet or $9 for a menu order. I’m old-fashioned, I guess, but I’ve never paid for hotel breakfast before. I used to work for Sysco, which supplies their food, and it’s the same stuff other hotels get, so the charge feels pretty annoying. Work covered my room, but I probably won’t stay at a Hilton Garden Inn again. It comes across as a fake fancy hotel.

An unexpected layover in SLC turned into a pleasant stay. I picked this hotel because it was nearby and had a complimentary airport shuttle running 24 hours. The front desk team member was professional and pleasant, with a real “I love my job” attitude. The early morning front desk staff and shuttle driver were just as enjoyable.
