Ramada by Wyndham Salt Lake City North Temple

I stayed from 7/13-717, and checking in and out was quick. The room was affordable and clean, as were the hallways, and the staff were nice. I noticed the comments about the front desk and made a point of being extra kind and thankful and sharing some positive energy. I called several times for help printing important documents, and they were super nice each time. The hotel could use some TLC, though I could see people working on it. They answered all my questions about the pool and ice machines.

The staff were very nice and attentive, and the room was spacious, comfortable for one or two, and looked mostly clean, though there was some dirt on the bathroom walls. I felt relatively safe despite the area seeming a bit suspect. My room faced outside, and I'd have preferred one facing inward, though I'm not sure one was available. The shower was the low point: poor pressure, and the shower head only reached 5'7". It wasn't bad, but I'd spend extra for a place in downtown Salt Lake.

It's an older hotel, and parts of it feel a little run-down, but the room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the staff were always friendly. The price was good. There's a decent workout area with a few machines and some free weights, and the Indian restaurant inside is quite good. The staff there were helpful and very friendly when explaining the menu.

Our room was clean, we slept well, and housekeeping were lovely and did a good job. But everything else was awful, especially the service and the people wandering around the property. I was even asked if I had drugs as I left our room. There was trash in the parking lot, including a big bag of needles, and people came in for the free breakfast. Breakfast wasn't offered to guests because of COVID, supposedly due to a food shortage. The pool and fitness center were also closed. The customer service was horrible. We booked three nights in advance, but they couldn't confirm that and made us check in physically each day. On the third day, when we had an early start, they were updating the system and told me to come back in 20 minutes. When I returned, nobody was there; I waited almost an hour and no one showed up, so I canceled the third night. The smoke detector kept beeping from a low battery, and my husband had to get one from the office. The remote had no batteries either. They used homemade cardboard do-not-disturb signs that looked like my grandchildren had made them. This hotel shouldn't use the Wyndham name. As a Wyndham member, I work hard to feel comfortable where I stay, especially at a Ramada. I never expected this at a Ramada hotel.
