Royal Garden Inn

The breakfast had absolutely no protein, not even eggs, and there was trash all over the hotel grounds. I saw what looked like a plate of rotting meat in the parking lot, and shoes stuck to the sidewalks on the way to breakfast. I went through three supposedly non-smoking rooms. The first had mold all over the bathroom ceiling. The next had so much soot on the window and wall that it looked like someone had set the drapes on fire, though I guess they’d replaced the drapes. I waited an hour for someone who was supposed to clean it, then the front desk told me there was no one on staff to clean that day. The last room just smelled bad. Cheap hotel, even cheaper clients and treatment. Don’t go here!

For the price, it was well worth it, and only about 20 minutes from Lagoon. The staff were cordial, and our decent-sized room had two queen beds. We had no problems. Still, there was no mini fridge, some lights didn’t work, and a couple of the electrical ballasts were broken or loose. There was what looked like a little mold on the ceiling above the tub, not much, but unnerving.

We woke up at 3 a.m. to several guys talking loudly just outside our door, and the continental breakfast was laughable, with very few choices and disgusting counters. My friends and I picked this place thinking it looked like a good deal from the online photos, but once there it was obvious the pictures had to be at least 10 years old. It was the worst hotel room I’ve ever seen. Ceiling tiles were missing, wallpaper was peeling, there was a hole in the bathroom area wall, and the mirror looked ready to fall off. I didn’t want to risk going barefoot in the shower or toilet area. The shower water swung between freezing and scalding. We requested two queen beds, but they were barely full-size. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone, not even my worst enemy.

The staff were rude and unprofessional, and our family’s room was falling apart. There was a hole in the bathroom, a damaged ceiling, and no iron. When we first arrived, the lights didn’t work, and the sheets were stained. I didn’t see bed bugs, but after reading the reviews and seeing the room, we decided to check out right away. Don’t waste your money. Stay somewhere else, the reviews are accurate.
