The only thing in its favor is the low price. The property is filthy outside, with trash everywhere, and the supposedly key-card-only exterior doors are always open. The inside smells bad throughout, though the odor changes from place to place. My room door looked like it was always open, with hallway light showing at the side, and the key swiper failed often enough that I needed help getting in one night. The toilet seat didn’t fit the toilet. Switches and outlets were gross and in disrepair, including one with a broken GFI button. There was someone else’s hair all over the shower, and the cleaning was obviously poor. Breakfast was awful, stale, and served in a dirty-looking area. It’s noisy too: you can hear people in the rooms above and beside you, including screaming kids at all hours. The hotel’s photos look completely doctored or AI edited, since the place isn’t nearly as new or clean as they show. It’s insecure, dirty, dated, and gross. If you can afford it, spend the extra $10 a night and stay somewhere else.
We arrived at 10:15 p.m. and didn’t get a room until 11, after being moved through three different rooms before finding one with a working door. The pictures are incredibly misleading. After all that, we hoped the room would be worth it, but it was run down, old, and smelled like mold. There’s no noise insulation, so you hear everything, and it’s really quite loud. Definitely not worth $98 a night.
After we got back from New York, there was a charge on our card that we couldn’t explain. I called repeatedly, but the phone just rang and eventually disconnected, so I have no idea what the charge was for. We stayed before our flight and arrived at 1 a.m., with a 6 a.m. wake-up, so we were exhausted and just went to bed despite the mess. The floors weren’t cleaned well, there was hidden trash left behind, and we found dried boogers on the nightstand. I wiped them off with a hand towel, which came away far dirtier than it should have, almost black. There were only two pillows, though the bed was reasonably made. I’ll avoid this place from now on. Zero stars.
The rooms are nothing like the online photos, and it’s a dump. Check-in took over 30 minutes because they couldn’t sort out a tax issue, though they did eventually finish it. The lobby already gave me a bad impression, and the hallways smelled of weed and filth. The showerhead was disgusting, and the toilet still had stuff in it, so it hadn’t been cleaned. They offered another room or to clean it, but the rooms looked nothing like the photos.
I just needed a place to sleep for one night using points, but check-in felt like an ordeal, with repeated questions about which company I was with. Nobody recognized me as a Platinum Member. The hotel had a strange smell throughout, and the key card struggled to open my room. Stains ran down the wall beside the TV stand, and there were white paint speckles all over the floor. The joining door between rooms was partly open, and even though the knob locked, the door would still open, so I didn’t feel safe. I blocked it with the table and chairs. Later that night, someone tried my main door and woke me. The toilet needed several attempts to flush and sat at an angle, so its seat wouldn’t stay up. The bathroom conditioner was squeezed empty, a ceiling tile was out of place, and the hot water handle came apart when I used it. I also had the last room on the bottom floor since there’s no elevator, and it wasn’t the room I’d booked online. There were paint marks throughout, enough that I wondered whether the maids were painting or someone with no painting experience had done it. It was all noticeable, and management should be checking rooms for quality. I wouldn’t stay again, and it wasn’t worth 15,000 Choice points. Choice usually emails me after a stay, but didn’t this time, though I did get one after staying at another Choice hotel in Payson. Maybe I’ll have to email them.
