Days Inn by Wyndham San Angelo

Getting there was a pain. The address on Google Maps, and therefore on apps like hotels.com, sent us to nowhere just outside San Angelo. I had to call the front desk for the correct GPS address. Once we finally arrived, six cops were outside looking into a room. We were luckily on the other side of the showdown. It's in an odd spot relative to town, though close to a gas station and IHOP. The hotel is decent for the price, if you can find it.

The place is in serious disrepair. The bathroom doors wouldn't close, and there were no TV remotes. What we paid was double the amount on the reservation. Breakfast was like visiting a friend's house after they hadn't shopped in months: one cereal, one milk, one oatmeal, no drinks and nothing else. They painted everything like a landlord's rental and called it done. I wouldn't stay again under the current leadership.

We had nowhere else to go, with no vacancies within 30 miles, or we would have left. I absolutely wouldn't stay here. Check-in was at 3, but at 5:30 p.m. we were still outside our room waiting for the cleaning crew. I had to go to the office three times and ask them to clean our extremely filthy room. It's the dirtiest room I've ever seen, and I've stayed in hostels around the world. The front desk person was exceptional, but the cleaning crew was horrible. The building was in rough shape too. The eave above our room was rotted, stucco had fallen off a column, a construction crew had overflowing trash, and I saw rat droppings in the outdoor hallway.

The TV doesn't work, the sheets were stained, and the room smelled like cigarettes. I don't recommend it.
