We were moving to Fort Sam Houston, and this hotel was at most 10 minutes from post, with lots of restaurants and retail nearby. The road is super busy, though. I’d read some earlier reviews and was relieved to see recent ones mention the remodeling. I can confirm the work is really good. We had two rooms, one with one bed and one with two. I only took pictures of the one-bed room, but both were great. Everything was brand new, the hotel was super clean, and some TVs still had their protective wrap on. The staff were super friendly too.
10/10
The rooms felt almost brand new and had lots of space. Yogi was helping me, and he was awesome, respectful, and really kind. I’d recommend this place and would happily come back. Thanks again, Yogi!
8/10
The kitchenette was a nice bonus, and staff said utensils would be available on request soon. I stayed for four days while renovations were underway. There was some light construction visible, but it wasn’t disruptive or in the way. The room was spacious and had a comfortable, home-like feel. The freeway location made commuting easy, and Polly at the front desk made the stay more welcoming. I’d stay here again if I’m back in the SATX area.

I spent 12 days at the Newest Candlewood Suites and had a great stay. The recently renovated room felt like a small studio apartment. Manager Yogi was very helpful and accommodating, and front desk clerk Yaseen was friendly. I highly recommend this place if you need a short or extended stay. Spend your coins at Candlewood Suites Near Fort Sam Houston.
6/10
The renovation was massive, with new beds, TVs, and accessories, but the contractor left sloppy paint splashes on doors and didn’t clean up messes. The late-night front desk service was dull. Wi-Fi and good Direct TV channels are available. The older design means thin walls, even though the place looks nice now. Also, trains came by around midnight, 2 a.m., and 4 a.m. I wouldn’t recommend it for light sleepers or anyone who needs white noise.
