Courtyard San Antonio SeaWorld®/Lackland

We left after just one night of what was meant to be a four-night stay in December. The room air felt stale, there was a mildew-like smell, the bathroom walls weren’t clean, and what looked like mold was on the ceiling. Our family developed bad allergy symptoms, and one member has serious asthma, which something at the hotel seemed to trigger. We told the front desk we were checking out and asked for a refund for the three unused nights. They refused, so we had to pay for nights we didn’t stay. That was really disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone with allergies or asthma.

The thermostat wouldn’t turn on, the room was never cleaned during our Thursday-to-Monday stay, and our towels were changed just once in four days. At check-in they’d said housekeeping would come every other day. It’s frustrating when staff promise something and don’t follow through. I’ve never stayed somewhere that didn’t provide housekeeping, and at these prices, especially for a Marriott, daily cleaning should be expected. We won’t be back. The front desk seemed apathetic too. After checking out, I remembered I’d left my rings in the bathroom and politely asked to get back into the room. The receptionist asked housekeeping to let me in, and the housekeeper rolled her eyes as though I were a bother. We were very polite, and I’ve never had an employee react that way. It was a very bad experience.

I’m a truck driver, and I arrived late with my driving hours nearly used up. I couldn’t find my ID in its usual place, which happens sometimes when I’m paying for fuel and other things on the road. I keep a photo on my phone for that situation, but the attendant that evening, with dyed hair and tattoos, wouldn’t accept it. I hope you lose your punk-poser ID, Ms. “Just Following Orders.” To be fair, the two other hotels within walking distance also wouldn’t accept the missing ID. Still, Courtyard by Marriott San Antonio Lackland has apparently told staff not to accept an alternative that highway patrol troopers advised me to use if my ID is missing. So I got to sleep in the back of my box truck in your spacious parking lot, after locking myself out of the cab on my angry walk to the other hotels. To be fair again, the morning attendant did help me unlock the passenger door so I could drive to a more welcoming and understanding hotel for the weekend.

The property looked nice, but the TV and phone in my room didn’t work, and there was debris in the bathtub. There was no complimentary breakfast, and Gold status got me neither an upgrade nor free water. Compared with my other stays on this trip, I wasn’t very impressed.
