Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott San Antonio Market Square

The room assignment gave us almost no privacy, with the parking lot and sidewalk right outside our first-floor window. The EV chargers were broken or severely limited. After the car was plugged in overnight for about 12 hours, it only reached 35% and stopped charging. The surrounding area also didn’t seem very clean, and the breakfast space was far too small for the number of guests. It was crowded every morning and hard to find a seat. There were other room issues as well: the sink and tub drained very poorly, the sink seemed angled wrong because water never fully ran out, and the barn-style bathroom door was difficult to close. The staff weren’t especially welcoming, either. For what this place costs, the worn condition and need for repairs and renovation don’t meet expectations. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Breakfast was fresh with a good range of choices, and the common areas were clean and welcoming. The location worked well for getting to attractions, restaurants, and shops nearby. My room was comfortable, clean, and well kept, and the bed was especially comfortable. It was quiet enough to rest after a long day. The staff were friendly and helpful right from arrival, so check-in went smoothly. I had a very pleasant stay at the Fairfield by Marriott Inn in San Antonio and would gladly return or recommend it to someone visiting.

I booked a room on March 27 for my sister’s military graduation on April 29 and 30. As the stepchild of a Marriott employee with over 30 years there, I used the Marriott Family discount. Marriott had changed the proof of employee relationship from paper to online. On April 27 at 6 pm, the hotel called to say my discounted booking wasn’t showing on their end. I showed during the call that the system let me book a future date with the discount, and they could see the issue was on their end. Still, they told me to contact my stepdad’s HR and said they couldn’t do anything. They could have called before the two-day cancellation fee window. Instead, they waited until the day before check-in, when I’d have to cancel and be charged. I wasn’t going to pay $500 for a room I booked at $160, so I disputed the cancellation charge with my card. They treated my little sister the same way when she booked her own room. They don’t care about employee families or military families. I’ll never book here again.

The shuttle runs to and from the river walk and market square, and the hotel is also within walking distance of market square. The location was perfect. Front desk employees were incredibly nice and down to earth, and they went above and beyond to keep customers happy. The rooms were comfortable, breakfast was amazing, and I love San Antonio. This is now my go-to place whenever I visit, plus we earn points.
