My coworkers chose this hotel for its downtown and River Walk location during my first business trip here. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and I liked the mini studio apartment feel of my room. It was clean and organized, with a small work table and a side table, and the hotel was quiet enough that sometimes I thought I was the only one on the floor. For the price, you could stay here if the downsides don’t bother you. My main issue was how dark the room felt, even with the lights on. Opening the window shade for natural light helped. The hot water took a long time to come through, even with the knob turned all the way up, and there was a random door in the room leading who knows where. The hotel only has one elevator, so getting to your room could take a while. I’m not sure why they don’t invest in a second one.
The room was spacious and the beds were firm, and breakfast was good. Parking was free and easy, and most attractions, including the Riverwalk, were about a $7-15 Uber ride away. The pool was dirty, though, with sticks in it, and staff didn't seem concerned when we mentioned them. The breakfast seating is pretty cramped, so on the weekend it got crowded and hard to move around. The place could use a little upkeep.
The staff were kind and professional, and the hot breakfast buffet had plenty of choices. There was enough hot water for showers and bubble baths, the room was stocked, and having two TVs was useful for me and my grandchildren. I also had space for my virtual teaching classes. Still, the torn, scratched, and dirty furniture made me uncomfortable. The pool had some debris, though the area around it was neat and clean. The microwave was missing its dish, and when I asked for one, I was told there weren't any extras, so I used my grandchild's bowl. Better kept furniture would have made me rate the stay higher.
My family of four and I stayed from 7FEB to 8 FEB 2026, and the experience was embarrassing as reward members and Holiday Inn Club Vacations members. There were ants in the living area and couch, and the bedding area next to the via phone was dirty and unpleasant. Our bathroom towels had brown spots, and at 2131hrs I had to use pool towels because no dry towels were ready. The front door didn't close properly, which left us feeling the security was below a safe standard. Breakfast was especially uncomfortable, with food all over the floor, including by the coffee station near the front desk. As a loyal member since 2013 and someone who has served in the U.S.ARMY for 22 years, this was heartbreaking.
The room itself was comfortable enough, and breakfast was surprisingly good. But we were kept awake by a nearby nightclub or bar. The music and a man, maybe a DJ, talking into a microphone stayed extremely loud until well after midnight. Our window and wall barely blocked any sound. I've never had that level of noise come through a hotel room before. I called the front desk around 10:30, after we'd already spent hours trying unsuccessfully to tune it out. The person said he'd call back in five minutes, but never did. The hotel could do more to insulate the rooms or warn guests, especially those placed closest to the noise, and could offer better room placement. I know city stays can be noisy, but this was a lot.
