Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Antonio Medical-Six Flags

The front desk manager was kind and understanding when we chose to leave early, and the overnight staff member was friendly and helpful. My complaint is about the hotel's management and condition, not those employees. After the first night, housekeeping didn't clean our room again during our three-night stay. Worse, they left the door open while we were out for the whole day. Nothing was stolen or disturbed, thankfully, but it was upsetting, and after we reported it, nobody made another effort to service or secure the room. We also found roaches the next day, and some got into our suitcases. We have photos of them. There wasn't a microwave-safe dish in the room, either. The breakfast was decent, though not up to what we've had at other Holiday Inn locations. Parking was very limited, especially near our room, and the location felt unsafe. On top of that, the sheets were dirty when we arrived, the tub wasn't clean and had visible mold, and a large gap under the door was never fixed despite being a maintenance issue. With all of that, we left early. It was a very poor stay, and I wouldn't recommend this location.

The service was horrible. The employees were rude and had an attitude, and I wouldn't stay here again. On vacation, we were disgusted the whole time. Our first room had pee in the toilet and mold in the bathtub, so we were moved. I called the desk on my cell because the hotel phone didn't work, and they said they'd send someone to clean. Six girls came into the room with a child, but only one went into the bathroom. She sprayed and wiped the tub without really cleaning it, left the toilet dirty, and then they all walked out. I tried to talk to the general manager downstairs, but was told he had left and someone from another hotel was working that day. He moved us to another room, which was also disgusting. The shower had problems, stains at the bottom, and hairs on the wall as if it hadn't been cleaned.

After waiting through our travels, we arrived an hour early and asked to check in around 3. They said the rooms weren't ready until the 4 o'clock check-in. We went to eat and came back about an hour and a half later, but still had to wait another 20 minutes. Then they stalled us with paperwork they could have given us earlier. When we finally got into the rooms, the walls and furniture were stained. There was hair all over the bathroom floor and shower curtain, too. We asked to move, but they said they were fully booked and housekeeping wasn't available. Customer service felt nonexistent. Save yourself the hassle and book somewhere else.

I was already unsure about staying here, but it was a last-minute booking and I didn't have much time. The service was okay for me, even though some reviews say staff can be rude. It probably depends who you get, and I did meet a few nice employees. The rest was awful. We booked four rooms for two nights and three days, and every room smelled and felt incredibly humid. The wood floors were stained and sticky, and you could feel dirt under your shoes. The walls had dark coffee-colored stains, still there the whole time, and the hotel was cramped and outdated. Instead of actual AC vents, it has pipes releasing air, and the place felt hot and humid as soon as we walked in. Tables were sticky, chairs torn, floors uncleaned, and the small, confusing hallways had dirty, sticky wooden railings. A sticky liquid got on my shirt twice in different spots. The bathrooms were just as bad. There was hair in the showers and on every towel, the toilet sprayed water and wouldn't flush, and the shower head and wall-mounted shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles had mold spots. Yellow residue covered the bathroom walls, and the tub was gray with stains. The beds had hairs on them, and everyone in my family felt itchy and uncomfortable. Wear Crocs or some kind of protective shoes, and don't walk barefoot anywhere. It's musty and disgusting, and I don't even want to think about the germs. The pool was dirty, and the outside area looked neglected, too. There are probably more things I'm forgetting. The area felt dangerous, and the price was too high for what we got. I'd rather pay more for better service and quality. This place was a rip-off, minus zero out of ten.
