Riverwalk Vista

We spent our wedding anniversary here and loved the charming little inn. The room was lovely, and the staff were so nice and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious, and we enjoyed the afternoon cookies and lemonade. We could walk everywhere and enjoy the river walk, and we're planning to stay here again next year. The only downside is there's no parking garage, so be ready to pay for a garage for however long you're there.

The Riverwalk Vista is right on the Riverwalk, and we could walk to the Tower of Americas too. The Pearl was less than a mile away. My husband and I stayed there with another couple for New Years, and we couldn't have picked a better location. The inn has a lovely, quaint bed-and-breakfast feel, with staff who are personable without intruding. We sometimes saw one of the owners, who gave us her cell-phone number in case we needed anything. The building, rooms, and common area are lovely, with distinctive hardwood floors, wooden doors, ceilings, and decor you don't find in many hotels. Treats were available throughout the day: breakfast, fresh baked cookies and lemonade in the afternoon, and wine in the evening. We also appreciated always having complimentary hot tea and water. The value for the quality is hard to beat, and we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

At 6'8", I usually struggle with hotel showers, but this one worked great for me. The ceiling is very high, and I could adjust the shower head to sit above my head. That's one reason I loved this hotel so much. It's a historic building with huge windows and really cute rooms. Breakfast and an afternoon snack are included, and the location is great, right across the street from the River Walk and close to The Alamo. There's no parking provided, but we managed fine. Downtown has no free parking, and we used the nearby Riverbend garage for $25 a night. If you're willing to walk a couple more blocks and use surface parking, you might find something cheaper. One of my best hotel stays. I wish we could have stayed longer!

The little guest journal was such a nice touch. My boyfriend and I stayed here two weeks ago for his 21st birthday, and the staff were really kind. Our room looked great, even though the bathroom was a bit small. It had a walk-in shower with separate dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. They served breakfast at 11, then put out snickerdoodles and lemonade at 3, followed by red and white wine around 6 or 7. We’d love to come back soon.
