The staff are what make this hotel so good. I’ve stayed long term because it’s near where my family member was in the hospital and now lives. Regina and Juan were wonderful when they were running the place, and nobody gave me a hard time when I used to forget my key, which I did more than usual at first. I’ve got into the habit of keeping it with me now. The new GM, Andrea, is a rockstar. During the record cold in SA, the pipes burst and things got a little wet, but the response was fast and efficient. Damage was taken care of. Andrea used the available resources well, and maintenance, housekeeping, and management all worked hard, especially on the cleanup. I’ve also stayed long term at the awful Rittaman 35 locations, and the difference is night and day. I wouldn’t recommend going back there. I’ll stay at @woodsprings stone oak when I’m in San Antonio, and my family visiting this weekend may stay here too if a room is available. The team has been positive and professional, and I’m grateful for them. Nice hotels are great, but good staff are what make a hotel.
Whenever I’m in town, I come back here, and I’ve even stayed a whole month. The grounds are clean, and I appreciate how seriously the team takes security. Everyone’s friendly and accommodating, and General Manager Andrea is especially wonderful to deal with. Thanks to her and the staff.
Two employees opened my room door while I was inside on the same day I checked in. That felt completely unacceptable and unsafe, and it’s why I left. No guest should feel at risk in a room they paid for. WoodSpring Suites’ policy says you can check out by simply leaving, without visiting the front desk, so that’s what I did. I wasn’t abusive to anyone on staff. There are cameras around the hotel, and the footage will show I did nothing wrong. Nobody told me management would contact me Monday. Instead of taking my concerns seriously, staff were dismissive and seemed to play around with the situation. When I later called to ask for the manager, the same employee wouldn’t let me speak to them. This experience showed a lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic concern for guest safety.
The location is lovely, and the rooms have lots of light. They’re small but nice, with a stovetop, and it’s a great spot for an extended stay. The $15-per-week Wi-Fi is decent, though not amazing. Service is wonderful, especially from Regina and Juan at the front desk, who are both genuinely great. I’ve stayed at dozens of hotels, and in this price range it’s one of San Antonio’s best for a place you can count on to be free of roaches, problems, and bad smells, and not in a depressing area. I hope posting this doesn’t push the prices up too much!
We felt welcome while getting settled, and everyone was caring and sweet. The room was clean and had a full-size fridge. It’s pet-friendly too. We’ll stay here again. Thanks for helping us get settled in.
