San Augustine Inn

$90 a night for a place this dirty is crazy. The sheets and floors were dirty, the supposedly clean towels were nasty, and the bathrooms were gross, with yellow-stained shower curtains, stained walls, and filthy yellow toilets. The rooms cost way too much for what you get. I wouldn't waste my money here. Upgrade this placee.

The front desk was often unattended, so expect to wait at check-in. The pool was there, but hadn't been worked on and had a torn cover. The rooms were mediocre at best. The AC was off, and it felt incredibly humid for the first four hours. Other places I've stayed had the AC on and set to a manageable temperature. WiFi was available, but nobody gave me the password, and the one on the recording didn't work. For that price, I expected better.

The AC didn't work in any of the three rooms we tried. I told them three times, and they moved us twice, but it was the same each time. The rooms had spiders on the beds and cockroaches all over. When we tried asking about getting the rooms cleaned, the staff gave us attitude, like they were doing us a favor. They said they'd check the room for skillets or other electric cookware, which they said we couldn't use, and charge us $100 if they found any. The pool was closed and dirty, and they said the gym was for private use only. The TV got only two channels with a terrible signal, and there was no WiFi at all. Worst hotel I've ever stayed at, and I don't even know where to start. If you're thinking of staying here, think twice.

The owner went out of their way to help us with an unexpected issue when we arrived. The room was very basic and okay for the price. The bed was comfortable and the linens were clean. It wasn't gross, but it could've been cleaner and needed a proper deep clean.
