The night staff were excellent and understanding. I was dropping off a friend and looked around before leaving. At night, use the handicap door button to open the automatic entrance. The lobby is nice and spacious, with two chairs by the stairs that work well for shorter legs, and it looks out over the pool and mini-golf area. They lend racquets for the tennis courts and paddles for pickleball. The pickleball courts share space with a basketball backboard. The rooms are older but mostly maintained and fairly spacious. I was told there was a two-bedroom suite, though the second bed was open to the main living area. It had a nice-sized balcony overlooking the walkways, but the sliding door latch needs repair or replacement. You have to stick your finger in the gap to pull the latch catch all the way open. There's a dishwasher and a microwave by the sink. The resort claims it's a 10-minute walk to the beach. Since it's off Ave. Calafia, I suspect there's an uphill stretch, but I didn't walk it, so I can't say if there are stairs or if it's wheelchair accessible. I used to know someone who lived near the pedestrian bridge. I'm not sure you can see the beach from the property. You can hear the 5 freeway outside. It's just one turn after you exit the freeway, downhill from the tennis courts, not the facility on the corner. The noise isn't obnoxious, and you can pretend it's the ocean or a river. It seems like a nice place, with attentive staff and good value.

We had a great time. It's a budget resort, so things are a little dated and not the best, but for the money it's good if you set your expectations accordingly. There were lots of families. The bed was decently comfortable, the gym was decent, and the pool felt nice. The hot tub was crowded but hot and pleasant. The beach is really cool and close by. You can drive over and park on the hill for free to avoid the beach parking fee, or walk, though it's a long uphill climb back to the hotel. It seems most rooms don't have a view.

For my first solo trip, I picked this hotel and found it laid back, with a bit of charm. My room was clean and the bed was comfy. I would've liked to try the on-site restaurant and jacuzzi if I'd had more time. The beach is a short walk away, which mattered a lot to me. Dining and shops are farther out, but I could take the bus into town. Dana Point nearby was beautiful too, and the bus made it accessible. Definitely worth visiting. Lana at the front desk was friendly and very helpful when she checked me in. I'd recommend this place for a solo getaway or for couples.

We had a great stay with our family of 5. The beach was within walking distance, and San Clemente pier was an 8 minute drive. The amenities were amazing, including the pool, lawn games, game room, and barbecue. We're already thinking about when to come back!

We drove all the way from Seattle WA and checked in on Jan 14th. Rose, the front desk agent, was a delight and very helpful. The rooms and property were great, clean, and very well kept. We're looking forward to coming back soon and staying a week. Thanks to Rose and the San Clemente Inn for the hospitality!
