Such a beautiful, welcoming place to stay in San Diego. The rooms are well kept, the landscaping is lovely, and everything looks very well maintained. The service was friendly and attentive. It's my favorite place to stay when I visit.

The food was great. I asked for chimichangas even though they weren't on the menu, and they made them for me. If you don't see what you want listed, it might be worth asking.

I went to the Bar for the breakfast buffet, and there was plenty to choose from. The selection was great, and I had a nice breakfast.

The stairs were a real challenge. Some of the several buildings on the property have no elevators. We were offered Building 500 above the pool, but with five of us, three kids, and a lot of bags, hauling everything up three flights wasn't going to work. We stayed in building 600, and each trip to the pool meant more than 60 steps up and down. Not a good fit if stairs are difficult for you. The rooms are very dated and badly need renovations. We also couldn't get adjoining rooms. Our older kids were safely next door with 24-hour access to us, but adjoining rooms would've been better. Five in one room is possible, just not ideal. The first time we stayed was just one night before an early flight. We liked the pool, and the on-site restaurant had decent food and really great margaritas. On our second visit, we stayed three nights. The location is hard to beat, about 10 minutes from the airport and in the middle of historic Old Town, with shops, restaurants, a Cold Stone for ice cream, the historic Whaley House, and other things to do nearby. We paid $175 per night for a two queen bed room with a sofa bed, which was excellent for the area and other comparable hotels. BW could probably charge more, though I can't say whether they'd keep the same volume. The beds were comfortable, and we slept well. The pool and hot tub were a hit with the family, and we could spend a whole day there. The restaurant opens at 6am for a fairly priced buffet, $12.95 for adults and $9.95 for kids. They had bacon, french toast, eggs, fresh fruit, oatmeal, muffins, chilaquiles, and beans. The card machine was down, so payment was cash or room charge, but that wasn't a big deal. We ate dinner there as well, and the tortillas were the best I've had. There's plenty of street parking, though we were there during the week, so I can't speak to weekends. Remember to turn your wheels toward the curb, as we forgot and got a $91 ticket. The single parking garage is always full, so if street parking is full too, there may not be many options even if you're willing to pay $25 a night for the garage. The key card system was unreliable. One room's keys didn't work, and several times the working keys stopped opening the door even though we followed the instructions to avoid demagnetizing them. We went to the front desk four times on the first day just to get them reprogrammed. With all the stairs, our legs were killing us. Food choices nearby lean heavily toward Tex Mex. There's one local Italian restaurant, but otherwise it's mostly Tex Mex. By the second day I was already over tacos, fajitas, and the like.

I was here for work through the "la presidente" program, and the staff were polite and super helpful. The attached restaurant tequila factory was fantastic. The food was amazing, the margaritas delicious, breakfast was great, and the wait staff were wonderful. Hope my company keeps sending me here.
