Candlewood Suites San Diego by IHG

We had a good stay and would come back for the space and value. Check-in was easy and friendly, and our two-bedroom suite was large enough for the family. One bedroom is completely open to the living area, though, so there wasn't much privacy. From the third floor the views were great, but the windows were the dirtiest I've ever seen, as if they hadn't been washed. We liked the free coffee and the ample parking, which cost $15. Some cosmetic problems really need attention.

We found the rooms huge, spotless, and well cared for, with an apartment-like feel that made the stay comfortable. The price was very reasonable for all that space and upkeep. Staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful from check-in through check-out. It was quiet and comfortable throughout. We'd happily return and recommend Candlewood Suites San Diego to anyone wanting a clean, affordable, friendly place to stay.

The rooms are spacious and lovely, but dealing with management and the employees was deplorable. It's been a month and a half and we still haven't received our deposit back. In the meantime, they also tried putting a couple of DoorDash purchases on my card. I found them quite judgmental and prejudiced. Beware, this was super janky. I wouldn't recommend it, and hope karma gives them a swift kick.

The front desk staff were nice, and the room was spacious, which was the one good thing here. But the place, including the lobby and elevator, smelled bad, and the old elevator sounded like it might break. The room, sheets, and towels smelled too, and I found bed bugs. I've stayed in many Candlewood Suites in other states without these problems. I'd take a small clean room without bugs over this big apartment-style room. The walls are so thin you can hear the upstairs neighbors walking. The remote had stains and dirt between the buttons, so it didn't look disinfected.
