Casa De La Playa

We had a great two-night stay. The room was clean and quiet, and with the window open you could hear the ocean at night. The beach is an easy walk away, the price was amazing, and we’ll definitely come back.

Fall asleep to the sound of ocean waves, just steps from the La Jolla tide pools. The rooms are spacious and spotless, with balconies, a full kitchen, and a luxurious walk-in tub. The spa view is unbeatable. A perfect coastal retreat!

My family and I were left outside in freezing rain because the hotel couldn’t find my reservation. I’d booked three nights through Expedia, paid in full, received a confirmation email, and even got a welcome message. There were no instructions, keys, or staff to help when we arrived. After several frustrating calls, we got a temporary key, but only for one night. The next day, despite showing proof of the booking, they said they had no room and told us to leave our unit because they were full. I had to repeat the whole story to different agents and spend more time dealing with it, throwing off my plans and ruining my mood. After I reached the manager, the final answer was just, “OK, you can stay.” No apology or explanation. They acted as if leaving a guest stranded in the rain was normal and as if I was the problem. The man in the office was pretty nice, and I appreciated that, but it couldn’t make up for the experience. Once we finally had a room, the thin walls meant I could hear the upstairs neighbor walking, talking, and dropping things at 4 or 5 AM every morning. We couldn’t sleep. Parking was another headache. There’s no reserved parking, only street parking, and finding a spot on weekends and holidays was nearly impossible. One afternoon we searched for ages, then had to give up and leave. I’ve booked through Expedia dozens of times and always had an easy check-in before. This was my first experience this bad. The hotel doesn’t have an official website, so booking has to go through third-party agents. If something goes wrong, you may be left dealing with the same kind of mess while the hotel refuses to take responsibility. No view or location is worth this stress. I strongly recommend finding a more reliable option.

The location was PERFECT for the La Jolla half. Everything about the place was convenient, and I’m planning to come back just to stay here again. Highly recommend.
