Comfort Inn San Diego Old Town

Quiet little place, and the people were friendly. The staff were really helpful, too. It’s close to Little Italy and Old Town. They serve a hot breakfast with bagels, bread, fruit, cereals, and waffles you make yourself.

The parking areas, including the underground garage, were tidy and well maintained, with no litter anywhere. Inside was just as clean, from the stairs to the hallways. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and the continental breakfast area was clean with fresh food. I don’t usually go on at length in reviews, but this was such a pleasant surprise.

We came for a Marine graduation, and the hotel was about a seven-minute Uber ride from the Marine base. Our king room was a decent size for two, and the newer mattress was clean. I always pull back the covers and check hotel mattresses. The shower had nice hot water. The pool looked nice, though we didn’t have time to use it, and I would have liked a hot tub. Breakfast was included, with scrambled eggs, sausage links or patties depending on the day, orange juice, milk, coffee, toast, cereal, and waffle makers. A decent selection and good value overall. Parking was around $20 a day in the hotel’s underground garage. The spaces are tight, so it’s better for smaller cars. There are elevators.

Old Town is within walking distance, with good restaurants, shops, and fun events, including ghost tours that ran until 10 p.m. The location was also convenient for the airport and most tourist spots, which were less than ten minutes away. Parking was the one downside at $20 a night, though the underground garage let us come and go without any trouble. Our stay was short but pleasant, with no issues. Wendy and Gabriel, I think, were both very nice and gave great service. Breakfast stayed stocked with good options, and the staff kept the tables and counters clean. We didn’t use the pool, but it looked clean. The rooms were clean, if not modern, and fine for sleeping and getting ready.
