Grande Colonial Hotel

We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner during our stay, and each meal was fantastic and different. The restaurants had great service, and the staff throughout the hotel were outstanding. I also appreciated the free, good quality coffee in the morning. The hotel is in a great spot and very quiet inside, even with busy Prospect Street right there. The shower, toilet, and sink were all behind one door in our room, which was a little inconvenient but not a deal breaker. I’d recommend it.

I keep coming back to the Grande Colonial Hotel, and I’ve loved every stay. The ocean views are radiant, and the beds are so comfortable and scoliosis friendly. It’s a quiet, divine, historic hotel, and I’d love to return again.

Molly, the event planner, made arranging a high-profile meeting at Grande Colonial easy. I was organizing it in a city I didn’t know, at a venue I’d never seen, for people coming from all over the world, which can be nerve wracking for me. The results made me thrilled, and our attendees were pleased too. One guest from Houston said the hotel was charming, while another from New York loved working from the Grande Terrace. We had several local properties to choose from, and I’m glad we picked Grande Colonial. It’s a unique place with character, quality, and excellent staff.

The room’s smoke alarms had a noticeable blinking light that made sleeping difficult, so guests may want to bring an eye mask. More seriously, I got over a dozen red bites after two nights in a room in the Little Hotel by the Sea part of the Grande Colonial. I noticed a few around my neck after night one and thought they might be mosquito bites or an allergic reaction. After the second night, with more bites across my body, I suspected bed bugs. I reported it, and the hotel moved me to a different room, refunded two nights, provided laundry service, and gave me some equipment I requested. Since this was a business trip, the refund didn’t benefit me financially. The hotel later confirmed it found two live bugs after inspecting the room. I don’t know whether they could or should have done more to prevent it, but getting that many bites in two nights seems like a lot to me. Aside from that, it’s a good hotel in a good location.
